back
I'm back from my short holiday, a trip back home on my own, except it poured on the next day i arrived (it's a Saturday for god's sake) and the sudden outbreak of swine flu, everything else's great. Finally met the cutest thing on earth, Ball Ball - my mum's little prince, a Pekingnese. the food and shopping are irresistible and irreplaceable, Hong Kong is always the best - if you could put up with the crowd, especially those Chinese tourists from the mainland, they're not the most civilised bunch of tourists, their behaviours are rather shocking.
Apart from the usual shoes, clothes, mobile phone, japanese mags, skin care and makeup restock. I bought a new wide angle lens, filter, and a remote control for my camera, i loooove the new lens's 104 degree view. i'm quite happy with the combo and i don't think i will be buying any more new lenses until i mastered these two. This is an expensive hobby!!
I've also developed 6 lomo rolls, will be uploading them to flickr soon...

Unwrapped
I haven't done any markets for years, today i was totally overwhelmed! It's so busy, people actually started buying while i was setting up, and i've got tons of compliments, it's very nice! The only thing is that I was facing the sun, the umbrella is totally useless. i was boiling! A few of my favourite people came to say hi, some colleagues at work came with their partners, I'd like to thank them for coming and supporting me.
I must admit I wasn't very well prepared, I worked til 3am this morning but still I couldn't finish everything i was working on, and i just found out i ran out of big paper bags last night! Anyway, sales is better than expected, also I'm glad that the majority of people know that my fabrics are different, hence the higher price.
There's just one rude person, this woman picked up one of my clutches and criticized it, she said to her friends that she could get something exactly the same from Thailand for less than $5, and threw it back on to my table. That's really rude. I can not buy a fat quarter (50cm squares) of the fabrics i used for $5! GRRRR!
Apart from that, I enjoyed the day very much. I haven't got a chance to check out the other stalls, i just had a quick walk around, and the only thing i bought was a pair of gorgeous earrings from Claire Brooks - the stall behind me!! I've been eyeing on those earrings since they set up! LOL! I also adore a dress from Calluna, they're next to us. but they don't have my size :( never mind, i [tried to] ban myself from shopping due to some big expenses planned at the end of the year. hopefully i'll see them there next year, or somewhere else soon :)

getting ready...
I've been working hard, day and night :) i took a day off today so that i can hand in the stall holder form and pick up the parking permit for the Unwrapped market, also went shopping for the new season's clothes and grabbed some fresh vegies on the way home, i miss shopping on a weekday! :D
The market's coming up soon, in less than 2 weeks!! times flies!! I still have a few piles of fabric to be sewed together. I planned to have fabric pouches made for each bag so they work as a dust/storage bag as well as shopping bag for the day. I don't think i can make it seeing my progress so far, LOL. well we'll see :)

lately...
haven't blogged for a while, what have i been up to? well, where to start.....
i started a new job (secondment in the same place just different team), it's so different, it's a lot more challenging, more busy, more satisfying, i love it! i wish i could stay with this team forever, even tho some days i just feel totally drained after work, just want to sit there and do nothing. And incidents happened when some people think they could take advantage of me, i got really upset but decided to fight back, i think i totally surprised some people, and i'm pretty sure such things won't happen again. Apart from that i enjoy what i'm doing because i'm not the kind of people who can do the same thing for more than a certain period of time, that's why i have never ever stayed in a job for more than 6 months. i'm terrible. Last week i secretly celebrated the anniversary and i hope i would stay here for another year, hahaha!
and i'm completely addicted to my SLR, whenever i have time we'd go out and about taking photos of whatever interested me at that very moment. i got many crappy photos in a day but it's reducing ;) and i'm sure Al's gonna get another camera very soon, his itchy hands. :)
last weekend i'm lucky enough to talk my friends who's getting married in April into a portrait session. Using my new EF 28-135mm lens for the first time, i took heaps of out of focus photos (thanks to my contact lenses!) and didn't fire the flash when i needed to, but i love the composition and emotions.
I think the edited photos are gorgeous, Adobe Lightroom is a god-send! Having said that, i don't agree with retouching and heavy editing to make bad photos look better, I'll only pick the good photos and edit them to make them look great. i do love this set of photos so much, i love the emotion i captured, my friend didn't sound very impressed which was a bit disappointing, perhaps what i took is not what they wanted, i focused too much on what i wanted to achieve... Anyway, I'd love to practice! I've successfully asked a couple more friends who are willing to take a chance, LOL! i'll try my best!
I also applied for a stall in Unwrapped: South Perth and got approved!! I must admit i haven't much motivation to make a lot of things now, i'm trying to set myself a deadline/goal so that i will start making things again. well, 3 weeks to go i still haven't started yet! this weekend i'll have to go to the bridal expo and see Cirque du Soleil, so.... i'll see what i can whip up in 2 weeks..... i'm a bit of a worry! :P
I have booked another flight home because we changed our plan. No honeymoon after the wedding because the family wanted to stay in Perth for a little longer. oh well no matter how you try to avoid to "do it for everybody else", you still have to do all this for everybody else. Never mind, it's good that i can get a lot of things organised.
hmm... i think that's it. I'll be back to post more photos and stories... soon :P

happy CNY
Chinese New Year that is, if you're not aware of it :) and it's Australia Day long weekend, my colleague (old lady) was like, "oh, enjoy the fireworks on your new year day then! how lovely". ha-ha.
I haven't been posting very often because 1). I haven't got time to make new stuff any more, which is a shame... 2). i use facebook and flickr more often. I don't want to give up the blog as i don't want to rely on one place (Facebook) as my sharing/venting/whatever outlet. but i think i won't be updating here as frequently as i used to in the near future, i won't say forever :)
I haven't got much to write lately anyway, as i'm learning to tell story with pictures, learning how to use the cameras and playing with them whenever i have time. so for now i'll share a couple of pics, and again, more on facebook and flickr, add me, if you haven't already.
Kings Park after the devastating fire last week. I hope they'll catch that idiot who threw the ciggie butt into the bush.
finally got my Lomo rolls back, this's taken in Nov last year in Scarborough Beach on a fine day. i love this shot, and i love the wide angle lens! and i still can't justify the cost of cross processing slides here in Perth, it'll cost $20-30 for 36 exp if i want them scanned to CD, at that price i can get 3 rolls developed in Hong Kong, including postage both ways! I'm lucky enough to have a brother who lives in Hong Kong and likes to shoot lomo as well, thank goodness!!

some pics to share
5 days has passed (9 days to go!), I haven't done anything I planned to do during this 2-week break, been too busy shopping and eating :)
I had a quiet but happy Christmas, mostly out and about taking photos and experimenting with the camera. Just wanna share a few photos here, more on Flickr / Facebook.

workplace

the IS lens did a great job!

playing MF.
ps. i love these ducks, they tend to circle me whenever i bring my lunch to the lake, i almost started to name them.

i love all the old building in Fremantle

no human being in sight, it's taken on Christmas day.

i was a little bit shocked when i saw those thighs, LOL! not that i care, just didn't realise they expanded so quickly. hahaa!

Bell Tower, one of my fav place.

light painting

The weather forecast said tomorrow will be extremely hot, 38 degree hot, and the rest of the week looks pretty much the same. Shame. no more photo trip til next week....
